Deforestation and indiscriminate, use of chemical fertilizers are causing great harm to the environment. In order to preserve the beautiful landscape and flora and fauna of Konkan region and to reverse the damage caused by the use of chemical fertilizers Sangli Mission Society has initiated a programme of prompting sustainable agricultural practices specially in Konkan area.

Farmers are given training in organic farming . Farmer clubs are formed to strengthen the networking.


Watershed Programme
In jath a watershed programme of 4 check dams, gully plugs, a demonstration vermi compost unit and social forestry is complete.

Benifits of the programme are seen for the first time in nearby Wells. They are full and water is overflowing with the little rains in this area. SHG's and watershed management commities are formed for sustainability. It took intensive awareness and training so that villagers were able to own the project.
